Website Redesign

7 signs your business website needs a redesign

A website does not need a redesign because it is a few years old. It needs a redesign when the current experience makes the business harder to understand, trust or contact.

1. The phone experience feels like a smaller desktop website

Tiny text, awkward menus, side-to-side scrolling and buried call buttons are strong redesign signals. Mobile layout should prioritize the decisions a customer makes on a small screen.

2. Your services are difficult to understand

If visitors need to click through several vague pages to work out what you actually do, the information architecture needs work. Important services should be named plainly and given enough context to stand on their own.

3. The next action is unclear

A page filled with 'Learn more' buttons often makes visitors do too much interpretation. Calls, quote requests, bookings and consultation actions should match the page and the customer's intent.

4. Important information is outdated

Old hours, former employees, discontinued services and dead links make an active business look neglected. If updates are difficult enough that they keep getting postponed, the management model may need to change too.

5. The website looks nothing like the current business

Businesses evolve. New services, better work, stronger branding and a different customer mix can make an old website inaccurate even when it still technically works.

6. Forms produce poor enquiries

A blank message box gives customers little direction and gives the business little useful information. A better form can ask only the details that matter: service, location, timing, scope or photos.

7. You cannot tell whether the website is helping

At minimum, you should understand basic visitor behaviour and know whether important calls to action are being used. A redesign is a good opportunity to make measurement part of the system.

Redesign around the business decision

Do not redesign only to make the site prettier. Preserve useful content, simplify navigation, improve mobile actions and make the primary customer journey easier from first visit to enquiry.
