Local SEO foundations: what a small business should get right first

Local SEO is not a magic switch. The foundation is consistent, understandable information across your website and business profile.

Be specific about services and locations

A vague homepage that says 'quality solutions' gives people and search engines very little to work with. Use the real names of the services customers search for and state the areas you genuinely serve.

Keep business information consistent

Business name, phone number, address or service area, hours and website link should match wherever customers find you. Conflicting information creates friction.

Give important services enough information

When a service is important, explain what it includes, who it is for, where it is available and what the customer should do next. This is useful content first and search content second.

Measure before promising

No responsible provider can guarantee a number-one Google position. Track visibility, clicks, calls, form submissions and the pages customers actually use, then improve from real behaviour.
